About Bengaluru (Bangalore)
Bangalore is the capital of Karnataka. It is one of the fastest growing cosmopolitan cities. It's renowned IT industry has put Bangalore on the World map and has made it famous. Bangalore is fondly known by various names such as "Pensioners Paradise", "Silicon City", "Garden City", etc.
According to legend Bangalore got its name from King Veeraballa of Vijayanagara. Once King Veeraballa lost his way in forest. Hungry and tired, he came upon a lone hut in the thick forest where he met an old woman. When he asked for food, she gave him baked beans (Known as 'Benda Kalu' in Kannada). The King found this humble meal very tasty, named the place "Benda Kalu Ooru" which meant the place of baked beans. Bangalore will be renamed as Bengaluru.
Bangalore has easy access to some of the best wildlife sanctuaries and heritage sites in the country which gives you ample opportunities for photography and also has some of the best hospitals and medical professionals and is a learner's paradise with the umpteen number of medical and dental colleges that continue to produce some of the best doctors in the country.
